After a 6 o’clock breakfast at the Hudson Bay Lodge, the All-West Glass Hockeyville Express Bus is on the road to Kingston.
The Bulkley Valley Credit Union hosted an essay contest to demonstrate how the youth of Smithers know in their hearts that ‘Smithers is Hockeyville.’ Click here to view the winners.

The RCMP will be conducting a series of “Seatbelt checks” throughout the month of March. If you are found wearing your seatbelt they will present you with a “take your family skating on Hockeyville certificate. On March 19th we will have a free skate open to the public from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. There will be free Hotdogs and drinks for all!
The Women’s Summit Series is today! Two teams will suit up, ride the chairlift and then be taken by snow-cat (the same one used in the filming of 8 below) to the highest known outdoor rink in Canada. Face off should be around 1:00pm. There will be a reception held in the lodge afterwards for reflection on the game, some warm beverages, and entertainment by the Hungry Hill Blue Grass Band. If the CBC crew has any energy left form the days events, we will plan a farewell dinner at the Alpenhorn Pub and Bistro upon our return from the hill. P.S. Keep your eyes on Hudson Bay Mountain throughout the day for a new development to our scenic landscape.
The CBC crew and Derek Thompson, the West Coast Hockeyville host will be making an appearance in Smithers! Let’s get everyone out to greet them and show them a warm Hockeyville welcome. If there is still ice left on the NUMBER 1 BACK YARD RINK IN CANADA, we may take the crew out to catch an old fashioned pond hockey game in the evening.
Game on!!! The high-school’s finest will take to the ice to face off against the RCMP team. Face off is at 12:00 sharp, don’t miss it!! This is good hockey last years game ended in a 6-6 draw. There will be fun contests during periods and we will be serving free Kraft Dinner to all who attend. Remember dress in red to show your “Hockeyville Spirit”.
650 high school students will assemble on Smithers Senior Secondary school track to form the word “Hockeyville” a helicopter will fly over (weather permitting) to capture the event for submission.
